Around a year ago it was announced that there would be the very first Canadian Youth Nationals. Instantly I signed myself up alongside one of my teammates. In January our team started to practice every other weekend. We all spent what seemed like endless hours tying flies to fill our competition boxes. Finally it was the week before the comp and the tying, practice, and team strategies were about to come into play...
I decided to publish this review unchanged from the way I wrote it more than six years ago. After having fished with it during many tournaments on a variety of rivers in several countries on two continents it my favourite nymphing tool, especially for short line techniques (aka the Czech style). There is no lack of nymphing rods on the market these days. While I can't claim I have tried them all I have tried a good number and in my view, for my fishing style and taste, this Maxia model remains a step above the rest.
