In Ciprian's experience this fly works best with silver and gold bead for regular types of water and freshly stocked or unpressured fresh. Bronze and copper are the choices for pressured fish. In any situation the clarity of the water, the color of the river bottom and the light level are always factors to take into account when selecting the color of the bead.
